The Regional Environmental Center for Central and Eastern Europe (REC) has always been committed to support responsible ministries, public authorities and stakeholders in global and regional processes and efforts in meeting challenges of integrated water resource management and climate change effects.

Although the regions targeted by the project have different economic, cultural and historical characteristics, the countries are interconnected and today, more than ever, are facing common challenges. They have rich but vulnerable natural environments with big potential for improvement. At the same time, some of the countries enjoy economic growth and are committed to further development.

Keeping in mind REC’s mission, we are privileged to take part in this project and to facilitate adaptation efforts with full integration with the implementation of EU water legislation. We look forward to strengthening capacities in decision making and in operations and to help raise public awareness of the need to take measures to adapt.

This project is cofinanced by the ERDF and made possible by the INTERREG IVC programme

The Interregional Cooperation Programme INTERREG IVC, financed by the European Union’s Regional Development Fund, helps Regions of Europe work together to share experience and good practice in the areas of innovation, the knowledge economy, the environment and risk prevention. EUR 302 million is available for project funding but, more than that, a wealth of knowledge and potential solutions are also on hand for regional policy-makers.
