Dr. Ion SANDU, General Director of the National Meteorological Administration Romania

Romania plays an important part among the EU countries regarding the research on mutual impacts between drought, climate change and agricultural activities. Regional approaches for future implementation of policies could make available the problems related to know-how, tools and instruments in order to develop the regional action plans including good practices and adaptation measures. A pro-active research is necessary to promote better understanding of climate change impacts and the development of skills, methods and technologies to cope with the consequences of climate change.

I firmly believe that this project will contribute to create a new attitude towards the environment and making people more sensitive to the risks, in order to prevent and mitigate the effects on climate change”.

This project is cofinanced by the ERDF and made possible by the INTERREG IVC programme

The Interregional Cooperation Programme INTERREG IVC, financed by the European Union’s Regional Development Fund, helps Regions of Europe work together to share experience and good practice in the areas of innovation, the knowledge economy, the environment and risk prevention. EUR 302 million is available for project funding but, more than that, a wealth of knowledge and potential solutions are also on hand for regional policy-makers.
